why include physical education in the philippines?

Marco Stolarz: are you talking about including PE in teacher-training courses or in schools for kids?i am not familiar with the education system in Philippines, but i think the general reasons will still remain the same.- it is for all-round development of person.- mere academics is not enough to build a well-grounded personality. you require a healthy body which translates into a healthy & alert mind. - for a growing child, the development of muscles, body tone, strengthening of bones, etc. are all very essential.numerous studies have shown that proper exercise started at any age [including the 60s & above] can benefit the individual.- team sports provide & enhance social skills like cooperation, healthy competition, being a team-player, etc. - Leadership qualities are also inculcated, as well as delegating & working together.- instills discipline.- winning & losing are part of any sport/game. this is an important lesson learnt through PE as a preparation for future life! .- PE takes the child out of the confines of the classroom & out into the open air - it helps relieve stress, relax the mind, act as a 'break' from studies, bring one closer to nature/natural surroundings.... children look forward to the PE class - acts as motivation.hope these helpall the very best...Show more
