Is Home school better?

Antonia Boomershine: Well, I'm 28 years old, and from personal experience I can say that the public school system is a joke. The reason they look at you like that is because you're potential business for them. Because the Public School system is failing kids, more and more parents are yanking them in favor of Private and Home schooling. If there's no students to teach, there are no teaching jobs. Thus, you being home-schooled is bad for their business, so they're going to do anything they can to manipulate to stay in their system, especially if you're a prospect to go to college (their SOL scores depend on students who care about their education). I dropped out in the 11th grade, and since then I've graduated Summa *** Laude from college and have 2 degrees. As far as colleges refusing scholarships because you're home-schooled, I'm not sure they're even allowed to, but I wouldn't guess it would matter. You still have to meet a certain criteria to advance if you're h! ome-schooled, and if you score well on your standardized tests (namely you're SATs), you should have no problem. If you have the option to be home-schooled properly, TAKE IT!!! Public school is nothing but socialist indoctrination and a government-funded babysitter anyways....Show more

Robbie Starchman: I have been home schooled all my life and I find that from what my friends say it is a lot easier being home schooled. I am in 11th Grade and I am only 15 so that has to tell you it is some what easy. I am home schooled through the BJU ( Bob Jones Univeristy) curriculum. At the end of the school year I take the CAT ( California Assessment Test) (you don't have to live in California I live on the other side of the continent). You get your grades back and you use those and the ACTs (you take these 10th through 12th grade) to get your GED. I hope home schooling works out for you....Show more

Elmo Tervo: Yes, Homeschool is better.

Fritz Sisomphou: 1. It is a! better choice for some, but not for everyone. 2. You need to ! keep careful records and transcripts. Create a neat portfolio of your best work. Take the ACT and SAT tests. You should NOT get a GED. You can order a homeschool diploma, or your folks can have one made. Be sure you know the homeschool laws in your state.

Davina David: Homeschooling is definetly better! And you do NOT have to get a GED. Colleges look at homeschoolers the same way as they do public schoolers, you just have to show that you are ready. Instead of your GED idea, go ahead and take the SAT/ACT like anyone else would. If getting a diploma is that important to you, you can always join a homeschool diploma granting group or an online school.I hope everything works out for you and good luck!...Show more
