Teaching Creditals or Teaching Certificate?

Horace Escue: Colleges and universities don't require their instructors to possess a teaching certificate, but they do require a mastery of the subject they are teaching either through an internship, tutoring, higher level degree (masters or doctorate), or teaching experience (in a job that requires a teaching certificate). Some of the universities I know are recognizing that teachers with doctorates may know their subjects well, but may not be able to properly teach it to their students. Through student evaluation and professional oversight, they are recommended to attend workshops to improve their delivery and technique. Like most jobs, they must have letters of recommendation, to prove their ability.
