Cruise for a single person?

Shaun Rapkowicz: I don't think you can say any particular line is better for a single traveler than any other. It depends on the person cruising. Your age, your likes/dislikes, where you want to travel, what you are looking for in a cruise experience are all important as well. I have a lot of clients who are single. Many have met others on my group cruises and share rooms on future sailings. Others choose to cruise single. Yes, on most lines you will have to pay for two (less port fees and taxes). Norwegian Epic (and Breakway soon too) does have single studios with no single supplement fee. I have toured the studios on Epic and they are perfect for a single traveler who doesn't mind an inside room. The rooms are smaller, but plenty of space for one. You can also get connecting rooms if there are two friends traveling. They do have a lounge area where people can meet.Other cruise lines have been exploring adding single rooms. A few of the Royal Caribbean ships ! have added a few, but not much is being said about them. Cruising is a fantastic way to travel and I encourage you to give it a try!...Show more

Barton Morfee: Just as not all couples are alike, so all singles are not alike. I'm single, yet you and I might want different things from our cruise. I'd say the best cruise line for you would be the line that's going to the places you want to go at a price you can afford.Find a good travel agent - not an online one - to guide you in your decision. You want someone who's certified in booking cruises AND who has gone on at least a few cruises, preferably with more than one cruise line. This will give the agent real-life experience as to what the atmosphere is like on different lines and ships. Most cruise lines do not cater to singles, and in most cases a single will end up paying twice the advertised price for their cruise, since the advertised prices are per person, double occupancy. One of Norwegian's ships (the newes! t, I think) does have cabins designed for singles, so you may ! want to look into that....Show more

Lou Rought: any major cruise line is fine. do short cruises, no longer than 5 days, otherwise you will stuck with more elderly crowd or families and do not go during holiday, like christmas.

Gertrude Darke: Princess usually have special nightly meetings for all singles, but you have to pay the full cabin price for 2 people.

Adan Alipio: The Norwegian Epic has rooms designed for solo travelers. They're called studios, and based on this blog post, it looks perfect for a someone who is single http://avidcruiser.com/ftdc/2012/03/09/norwegian-e...There's a dedicated lounge for solo travelers and you can even write on a whiteboard to let everyone else in those rooms know what you're up to in case they'd want to join you. I have sailed the Epic, with others, and there's TONS to do on the ship. Actually met a couple people traveling on their own too.The Epic sails the Mediterranean in the summer and early fall and the Caribbean ! in the winter and spring....Show more
